The various plug in modules 4 amps

I'm curious as to how the mic pre plug in module (1588A) works? If after I plug this in and switch over to the 'mic pre' side can I then take an XLR mic cable, cut off one end and connect the ground, postive and negative wires to the corresponding inputs on the back?

The model amp is an Altec 361B (Green Face). Sockets are available for:

Line transformer
Compressor
EQ
Mic Pre

With only one speaker output.


Any help with this would be great!

The 1588A is a self contained transistorized preamplifier module.

It should work as you have described allowing use of a standard low impedance microphone cord.

Not sure of the exact connections on your particular amplifier however.

The inputs on the back of screw type. Six in all and inline they read as follows: hi - lo - G -- G - lo - hi.

There's also, just to the left of the first 'hi' , a 'MAG PHONO' RCA input.
